Sudheesh Kumar…Brief of a Pravasi Organic Farmer’s Life in UAE.

I’m Sudheesh Kumar basically from Guruvayoor,   Thrissur District, – the Cultural Capital of Kerala, India. I am working as an Organic Farm Manager with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed in Dubai. Previously I have worked as an Electrical Supervisor in Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (SEWA). I am living in Sharjah since 1997.

My Life in UAE as an Organic Farmer

Here I am a one-man army and tamed the hot soil of UAE to create my ‘Garden of Eden’ planting and harvesting seeds for future generations. I used my spare time for planting all household vegetable and have succeeded in cultivating paddy and wheat also in Sharjah.

I feel very  happy to be an inspiration to the world as a candle light who shows the right path whoever in darkness….whoever need my assistance in this means… it  brings  in me …new ideas….new visions…..new mission…….for the well-being of environment……

My Vision and mission with School Students and Society

“Planting and harvesting seeds for future generations and Grow our own Organic Food”

Rice is the staple food of the people of Kerala, and, traditionally, the cultivation of rice has occupied pride of place in the agrarian economy of the State. The Green lush paddy or rice fields, scenery of crop cultivation that is now diminishing here in Kerala the south Indian state. By this attitude of people of Kerala ;  I got a positive thought to cultivate the same in the soil of UAE.

As on the above thought I set my vision and mission to start to cultivate 5 acres of basmati rice in Dubai and the same time I thought to share this experience with the School Students of UAE , to know and experience what is rice, how to cultivate and also part in the Rice Plantation Festival of Paddy Cultivation…. especially to the new generation of children who have been raised in the soil of United Arab Emirates… Above event organized in Sharjah Villa backyards …. As  the first phase of project …more than 150 students from various Schools participated and enjoyed the Rice Plantation Festival.. By this event I could solve lot of questions of new generation of children about rice farming.

As the second phase of project …more than 50 special needed children from various part of UAE participated and enjoyed the Rice Plantation and Harvest Festival. This event took place on 22nd June 2018 in my Sharjah villa. It was a best treatment to create a happy atmosphere for our special needed children to get away from darkness into light. A group of “children of God”(differently divided children ) with the whole support of their parents made this .People associated with the region say that these children can provide eight types of therapy by landing their legs on the soil. Being in nature, or even viewing scenes of nature, reduces anger, fear, and stress and increases pleasant feelings. Exposure to nature, not only makes you feel better emotionally, it contributes to your physical wellbeing, reducing blood pressure, heart rate, muscle tension, and the production of stress hormones. It may even reduce mortality. So being a part of this event” we can also try to become closer to nature.

Especially the message which I given to the new generation of children’s and Society are follows

  1. The value and respect of great efforts taken by farmers in helping to feed the world.
  2. The need to stop food wastage.
  3. Gave inspiration to Agriculture and cultivation process to the new generation.
  4. Gave an experience of Traditional way of rice cultivation and harvest to the new generation.
  5. Inspired lot of people and new generation to self depended to cultivate their own organic vegetables and leaves at home and Schools.
  6. Conducted lot of Organic Farming Seminars/Workshops in Schools and Organizations to promote agriculture and its products in all over UAE.

Also I have conducted a Summer Camp to the new generation Kids in their School vacation period in my Sharjah Villa by way of teaching all process of vegetable cultivation in Organic way….

Lots of Schools projects are ongoing to teach and do organic cultivation among the School children…in various Schools in UAE.

I used my spare time for produce all kinds of Organic Vegetables and I started Organic Market every Friday in Sharjah. Which I am able to feed more than 100 families from various parts of Emirates.

GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS

“My life’s dream has come true by distributing the largest number of 4,914 Curry Tree Saplings  to the students of Sharjah Indian School. Nearly 5,000 families in the UAE will now grow pesticide-free curry leaves at their homes. The fact this record coincides with the Year of Zayed as well as World Environment Day makes it even sweeter.”

The focal point to choose curry tree sapling is curry leaves are an essential ingredient in the cuisine in various parts of our country. Also, Curry leaves from India were earlier banned in the UAE due to high levels of pesticides. Through this initiative families of these students can grow pesticide-free curry leaves at home.
